International Doctor is the practice of Dr. Johanna Alida de Boer, a family doctor based in Alcobendas, in the Madrid region. She describes her work as personal, evidence-based medical care for international patients, and consultations can be held in English, Spanish, Dutch or Swedish.
Care is offered in three ways: an online consultation for questions about prescriptions, medication, laboratory results or conditions that do not need a physical examination; a clinic consultation in Alcobendas for acute and chronic conditions or a preventative check-up; and a home visit in Madrid for patients who cannot come to the clinic or prefer to be seen elsewhere.
The practice states that it does not work directly with insurance companies, although patients can usually request reimbursement from their own insurer. Prescriptions are issued through the Spanish electronic prescription system REMPe, which is accepted in pharmacies across Spain.
